The Perfect dress is not going to be found with your family without great difficulty. Each of your family members have their own ideas of your 'perfect' dress. The last thing you want to do is accommodate your families 'feelings' while you are intensely combing through dress' looking, trying on and feeling your way through the many designer dress' to hunt for the perfect one. When you set up your appointment with the boutique send your ideal images of that 'perfect' dress you have in mind. Allow the professionals to help walk you through their inventory, done correctly the dress is only a shop away. Make the time available for two hours giving you enough time to try on all the dress pre-pulled for you upon arrival,with no one but yourself to judge them. Select two or three really good ones or just make the decision it is your wedding; then have everyone come for the big reveal.

Having everyone at the boutique helping you is really unnecessary for several reasons. Think of it this way, everyone will be giving you a dress they dem perfect only to have you fitted and modeled, just for their approval. Mother's will be reliving their glory days, bridesmaids will be looking for their potential wedding day, Sister's are closer to finding the style you already gave the professionals to find, and Father's cut to the chase asking about pricing, leaning more toward the cheap dress' giving little thought to a dress that is worn one day only. No, the perfect dress is accomplished without those who are paying, and emotionally attached.

The idea of your day is inside your head, they already had their weddings so please don't buy into the whole mother daughter day or father daughter day. If they keep insisting to participate, trick them or try telling them you wish it to be a surprise. To trick them, just show up to the consultation early, Hince 2 hour appointment. Once you arrive, find the ones you like, try them on and make a sound decision once you have tried them on. The Consultant is a professional, it is her career choice and they see thousands of brides in a month, listen to their advice, make a note of their comments and make a sound decision. If you don't heed my warning, when everyone arrives, they all will scatter and look for their perfect dress going way off base from your image. The consultant can meet them at the door and escort them all to a seat for the 'reveal'. If you are stuck between two dress after everyone is seated with refreshments model your idea of the dress. This way is less stressful for you, and all involved. I am a planner, I have had several brides after reading this blog message me stating they wish they would have followed my advice.
