The cake! It is all about the cake, not really. Sometimes it seems that way, so many flavors, glazes and fillings, it is like the cake industry has not stopped giving us its new "better" version of wedding cakes. What happened to simplicity?

Believe it or not todays guest wish for the taste of the original older style wedding cakes rather than guessing "flavors"of cake they are eat at the wedding. Less is more in this case, finding more and more guests wishing for a more simple cake with interesting decorations and original traditional taste.

It is fun going out and looking for the cakery or the best cake in town but brides mostly overlook the smaller shops who don't market in the more bigger magazines but have a more personalized experiences. Some of these cakeries have years of experience with traditional style wedding cakes; cost less and are willing to trade older styles for more of a new age look.

Cupcake or Cake?

Cupcakes are making a surprisingly unlikely come back, jumping from the kids party scene to plates of formal wedding venues. While it would seem to guests this is the cheaper way out, it is not the case, cupcakes cost $2.50 To $3 a piece way more than any traditional wedding cake. If you opt for both wedding cake and cupcakes, cupcakes can be made to taste just like the wedding cake itself. Leaving the cake for wedding party and immediate family.

Fancy flavors and fillings: You would be surprised how many flavors and fillings can be made for one cake. Getting all wrapped up in the flavors some clients can get carried away with mixing up the cake flavor, filling and icing making that the end results are not favorable. So remember when you are ordering your tasting samples, which are normally four choices, it is a good rule of thumb to ask the wedding baker for their more asked for cake flavors; as most bakers know what is new in baking and what works really good together on the taste buds. You will be surprised to learn they have a few tricks up their sleeve themselves.

Just remember, the cake is going to be wonderful as long as you listen to the professionals that created their life around the Cake and not the idea of cake. You can make a beautiful cake but is it eatable? You want your guests to remember your wedding for its beauty not its drama.
